SOLD OUT Sallows Gig + Guided Walk to Grimm Forest Exhibition at Gibson Mill - 23 February
On the final day of the fabulous Grimm Forest exhibition at Gibson Mill, our team and No Folk Without Fire are thrilled to be marking the occasion with an enchanting guided walk through the woods, followed by an acoustic gig from fantastic folk band, Sallows. This is set to be is an immersive evening of music, history and nature.
Ticket holders will be welcomed to Hardcastle Crags by one of our Rangers, who will lead you on a guided, torch-lit (bring your own!) walk through the woodland to the Mill. As you make your way to the Mill, and take in the trees at dusk, our Rangers will give you an insight into some the history of the estate track you will be walking on and point out the nocturnal flora and fauna of the valley.
On arrival at Gibson Mill, you will be able to take in the last day of the Grimm Forest exhibition, wandering through the immersive magical woodland, where the Brothers’ classic tales emerge from between seven fairy tale trees, before taking your seat in the Café to enjoy the beautiful music of Sallows.
Sallows are a four-piece band from around the north west. Keeping within the folk tradition, Sallows use banjo, guitar, whistle, accordion and Shruti box and harmony singing to play songs that have been passed down for generations. Whether playing their own original music, where they tell tales of the land and everyday struggles that transcend time, or traditional tunes from year gone by, Sallows’ atmospheric folk music is rooted in telling stories and passing things on. With their interest in recounting tales and connecting with the past, their music is the ideal way to celebrate the final day of The Grimm Forest, in amongst the trees of Hardcastle Crags and the historic walls of Gibson Mill.

Walk begins at 3.30pm on February 23rd 2020. Meeting point will at the start of the Estate track from the car parks on Midgehole Road (HX7 7AA).
Sallows gig begins at 5pm in the Gibson Mill café – there will be a cash bar.
